Themilanhorse in the limelight of the Ultima Business Solutions Handicap Hurdle (Listed Race)
Trying their luck to cash the £15,377 prize money of the Class 1 Ultima Business Solutions Handicap Hurdle (Listed Race) are fourteen contestants who are four-year-old and above. The three mile, one furlong and 110 yard race will be staged at Cheltenham
on Saturday, 17th November.
Backed by 11 to 2 odds and striving hard for sustaining the form is the six-year-old bay gelding, Themilanhorse. He won the closing race of the previous season and stretched the winning streak to four when striking a hat-trick right after penetrating into
the current season.
The race will be his track debut at Cheltenham. All of his four seasonal outings were at different race courses.
The Irish bay gelding landed the Bet At corbettsports.com “National Hunt” Novices’ Handicap Hurdle on 1st March, 2012 at Ludlow race course over two miles and five furlongs.
In the hands of jockey, Harry Derham, Milan’s gelding won over Tara Rose by 1 ½ lengths.
Filling in the third spot was, Up To The Mark.
The six-year-old then extended the winning form by landing the Jockey Club Catering Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle on 25th March, 2012 at Wincanton race course over two miles and four furlongs.
The favourite mount, under the same jockey, was the first one to race over the hurdles and manage success by the mark of 3 ¼ lengths, defeating Revani to the second position.
Coming at terms with the third position was, Minella Special.
The success proved to be a hat-trick of the career and a back-to-back strike for the new season.
Trained under the supervision of the champion trainer, Paul Nicholls, the bay gelding out of, Supreme Leader, went on to give a hard time to the line-up of the Worthington’s Novices’ Hurdle on 17th April, 2012 at Exeter over two miles and 7 ½
furlongs.
It was only during the Betdaq Roulette Handicap Hurdle that his form wavered and he ended as the runner-up behind the winner, Native Gallery.
Themilanhorse missed the race by the mark of 1 ¼ lengths.
He will get guided through the track distance not by his regular jockey this time but the genius of his profession, jockey, Ruby Walsh.
