The midfielder, who arrived at Amsterdam Arena from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede earlier in the ongoing summer transfer market, is looking forward to the new season. The 29-year-old admits that should he perform impressively in the upcoming season, his chances to
represent his national side at European championship next summer would increase.
The Dutch International faces stiff competition at the central midfield position in Netherlands squad from Strootman and Bommel. The 29-year-old believes that he is better than the duo and revealed that Strootman would struggle for minutes on the pitch.
“I find myself better, so you must be honest. Let me put it this way, he cannot spend more minutes than I do”, Janssen said while talking to the media.
Strootman recently made his move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Utrecht-c39237. The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the best young defensive midfielders in Europe and has already made his International debut earlier this year.
Janssen faces stiff competition from AC Milan’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mark-van-Bommel-c24148, who has represented the Oranje on 66 occasions. Although the central midfielder has only five caps to his name, the 29-year-old believes that he is better than Van Bommel, who has tons of experience
with the national side.
“Yes, I think I am better than Mark van Bommel. You must be objective, but you must also be convinced what I have shown in the recent past. A long season awaits and my goal is to become champions with Ajax and cement my place in Oranje”, Janssen concluded.
The 29-year-old is looking confident to perform impressively at the highest levels in the upcoming season and Ajax would certainly benefit from the central midfielder’s optimistic approach. However, it remains to be seen whether Janssen’s performances at
Amsterdam Arena in the new season impress Bert van Marwijk, the head coach of the Flying Dutchmen.
