Theo Walcott and Cesc Fabregas injury has doubted their clash with Barcelona
The 21-year-old English International, Theo Walcott, and the alluring Spaniard playmaker picked up injuries in a game played against Stoke City.
The duo’s injury has brushed out their chances to play for Sunday’s game with Birmingham City. Birmingham City boss, Alex McLeish has a chance to thrash Gunners after the departure of the most prolific players. Theo Walcott is set to be missing out for the
second leg clash with Barcelona after an ankle injury. Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, affirmed that the English winger would be out for at least two or three weeks. The Frenchman spoke to media ahead of Sunday’s final against Alex McLeish’s Birmingham City.
The 61-year-old Wenger talked about the skipper’s injury in Wednesday’s game with Stoke City and according to him, Fabregas would miss only one or two games. Cesc Fabregas would play against Barcelona in the second leg of Champions League while the recurrence
of his hamstring injury could be sorted out by then. Wenger believes that the absence of Walcott and Fabregas from the squad wouldn’t affect his team as his team has plenty of classy players, enough to snatch the victory on Sunday.
Wenger stated that Cesc is disappointed and sad because of his inability to play on Sunday, but injury could have been worse. It’s a small injury and Wenger wouldn’t recommend Cesc to be out of the squad for longer time period. It’s important to see how
Arsenal cope with Birmingham this Sunday.
Wenger said, “We ideally want everyone fit before the season starts but you know, you can have some players injured, and we can deal with that, and so overall it is an accident you never want to happen but we can give you the fact that Cesc will not be there,
Walcott will not be there and of course Vermaelen will not be there as well. We have enough quality players to deal with that.”
The 19-year-old Arsenal midfielder, Jack Wilshere, asserted that Cesc is a great leader and he would the one to be triumphed. He also believes that 21-year-old Theo Walcott is a massive player who scored two goals against Newcastle United. Arsenal would
miss the duo but they would have to do the job without them. The vice Captain Robin van Persie would be the one to lead Gunners squad in Wembley.
He is excited over the performances in the current run of Premier League. The Dutchman further added, “I think we have belief, confidence, we are committed and we are determined to get over the last hurdle of the League Cup and we will give absolutely everything
to achieve it, and that's what we focus on.”
