http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 is desperate to win trophies with Arsenal – Premier League Update
Arsenal winger and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
The winger joined the Emirates from Southampton in 2006, but has not won a single trophy since his move to the club. As a result, the player is now looking to end that barren run and help the Gunners win a trophy this season.
When talking about winning trophies and the situation that Arsenal find themselves in, Walcott is quoted to have said: "Trophies are the thing you're gonna look back on in the history books”
The winger then talked about http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985 and how he has one of the most impressive personal trophies in the world.
"Look at [Ryan] Giggs, a great example, and the trophies he's won. You want to show your kids what you've won and what you've achieved in your life and, um, nothing so far.”
The player then admitted that the only way for Arsenal to win anything, was if the team belived in themselves and really pushed each other till the last day of the season.
"We've been so close, the Carling Cup last year when I was injured, and against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the [2007] final, when I got my first goal. Nearly there. So it's got to be this year. It has to be. We've got to believe we can do it with the slow start we've had."
It is no secret that Arsenal are in desperate need to win a trophy or two. The team is now in its sixth year without any silverware and for a team that is considered to be amongst the best in the world, that is quite a poor record.
Arsenal really need to step up their game for the remainder of the season, if they are to stand any chance of competing for any trophy.
The team currently has the second worst defensive record in the league and that just proves what their problem has been so far.
Should Arsenal be able to patch their leaky defence up, then they could potentially catapult back to the top half of the Premier League table and finally contest for top honours.
Nonetheless, these words from Walcott seem to be rather dubious to say the least. The player currently has one year left on his contract with the team and with him making such comments; one can only wonder what the future holds for him.
All in all, it is now a wait to see whether Arsenal can finally end their trophy drought this season or not.
