Arsenal forward http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 is closing in on putting pen to paper to a new contract at the Emirates, which would extend his stay at the club.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international signed for the Gunners back in 2006 from Southampton, where he was believed to be one of the best young players to come out of the club.
Ever since his move to the Emirates since then, he has gone on to make two hundred appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and has also represented his country on the international level, quite frequently.
Walcott’s contract at the club is set to run out in the near future and in order to avoid watching the winger leave the team on a free, the Arsenal officials are looking to secure a deal with the player and hope for him to stick around for much longer.
The team is believed to be looking to offer the player a four year extension on his current contract with the team, while looking to improve his wage at the club.
At the moment, Walcott is believed to be making a fee of around eighty thousand pounds a week, but is expected to be offered around a hundred thousand, once he signs his new contract with the team.
This season, Walcott has managed to produce a series of mixed performances for Arsenal. The winger has either been outstanding on the pitch, or has performed so poorly, that the Gunners fans have urged for him to be sold to the first club that show any interest
in him.
Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is still quite happy with Walcott and admits the winger has a lot more to offer the team.
At the same time, with the forward finally maturing and developing some footballing sense, it is safe to say he is only going to get better as time goes by.
Having spent so much time and effort on the winger, it would be rather foolish for the team to let go of the player, after showing so much patience with his form and development.
It is now a wait to see just how long it takes before Walcott puts pen to paper over a new contract.
