http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 on Friday night, and was glad to bounce back from the disappointment of missing the opening game by netting a goal.
The Three Lions were left shell-shocked as the Blue-Yellow took a 2-1 lead in the second half. However the player from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, who came on as a substitute in the 61st minute, immediately made an impact firing the equalizing goal in the 64th
minute, before http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-Welbeck-c10233 chipped in with the winner just 12 minutes from time.
With Roy Hodgson’s side having managed 4 points out of their first 2 games in the absence of the main striker Rooney, Walcott warned his opponents that England were only bound to improve in the coming games and highlighted the exceptional ‘firepower’ present
in the squad.
While talking to reporters, he said: “You know, 24 players [sic] are hopefully going to win this tournament, or take us far in the tournament anyway. It just shows how much firepower we’ve got on that bench, and we haven’t even seen Wayne yet.”
The 23-year old has so far made 27 appearances for England, but failed to feature in his side’s 1-1 draw against the Les Bleus on Monday.
Even though he expressed his contentment to see the Three Lions secure a result against the in-form French, Walcott let out his chagrin of missing out on a place in the opening game. However, he revealed that the players are competing for an opportunity
to represent their country in the showpiece European event, and was glad that he was able to make waves after coming on as a substitute.
He added, “Coming off the bench you need to be ready. You need to be sharp, and in a tournament situation on the big stage, it’s demanding on you as well. Not just going forward, but getting into shape straight away.”
He went on to concede that he was in a state of shock after seeing his shot find the back of the net, and initially thought that the ball had taken a deflection of someone.
