The DFB President reckons that Germany are one of the favourites for the title, and they can certainly lift the European crown. The DFB eleven remained unbeaten throughout the current year, and created history by defeating fierce
rivals, Netherlands, for the first time.
The 66-year-old also hailed German national team manager, Joachim Low, for the team’s impressive performances, and wished him success for next year’s competition.
Zwanziger is confident that Germany can beat any team in the world, and their impressive performances in 2011 have done their confidence a world of good before the tournament.
While talking to the official DFB website, the President further stated:
"At the Euro finals there are many teams that play at the highest level. At times there is just a small thing or a bit of luck that determines whether a team is successful. But nobody can say whether we will be able to win the
tournament or not. I believe that success is also playing nice football and if the title comes out in the end, all the better."
Zwanziger hailed the entire German squad for achieving maximum points during the qualifying campaign. Germany had a perfect record in the qualifying campaign for the first-time in the country’s history.
"The qualifying campaign with 10 victories in 10 matches showed quite clearly how much potential there is in the squad and how much the players can achieve."
Germany will play their first game of the European campaign against Portugal on June 9th, 2012.
Zwanziger will be replaced as the DFB President by the current General Secretary, Wolfgang Niersbach, in March next year.
