Thepchaiya Un-Nooh, David Grace and Sydney Wilson move into third round of 2011 Q School Event 1
The Qualifying School (Q School) Event 1 is proving to be more enthralling as it moves into its last stages. The fourth day started with the remaining second-round matches where Thepchaiya Un-Nooh,
David Grace and Sydney Wilson won their respective ties, beating Joel Walker, Mitchell Travis and Robbie Williams respectively to book a spot in the Last 31.
All three winners grabbed victories with the same scoreline of 4-2. Thailand’s Thepchaiya had a tussling affair with Riley’s Future Star winner, Joel Walker, until the fourth frame. Not many big breaks
were fired by both cuemen but the battle was very intense.
The Thai cueist stole the show in the end after he clinched back-to-back frames 71-37 and 99-13 to step into the third round of the event. The frame score of the match was 60-56 (Un-Nooh 55, Walker
40), 56-60, 96-15 (Un-Nooh 33), 59-69, 71-37, 99-13.
Meanwhile, David Grace took an early two-frame lead at 2-0 when he won the initial two frames at 57-50 and 69-38. Travis bounced back in the middle of the match and pulled level at 2-2 as he took
the third and fourth frame with impressive breaks of 30 and 58.
As the match entered into the last phase, Grace potted a tremendous near-century clearance of 96 to move within one frame lead at 3-2 followed by the last frame victory with a convincing score of
57-23. Grace nudged Travis two frames down to reserve a place in the third round of the tournament.
The frame scores of the match were 57-50, 69-38 (Grace 34), 1-75 (Travis 30), 9-61 (Travis 58), 115-0 (Grace 96), 57-23.
Robbie Williams received the same treatment from the 22-year-old Sydney Wilson in his second-round match of Q School at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. Williams stunned Wilson with his quick
potting skills as he took the first two frames 47-60 and 23-70 firing two decent breaks of 32 and 41.
However, after that Wilson didn’t let his opponent leave his seat as he took four consecutive frames to ensure his triumph over compatriot, Williams with the final frame score of 4-2.
The overall scoreline was; 47-60 (Williams 32), 23-70 (Williams 41), 70-10 (Wilson 52), 77-0 (Wilson 53), 70-32 (Wilson 35), 89-15 (Wilson 40).
