Thepchaiya Un-Nooh downs Sean O’Sullivan in deciding frame – 2011 World Snooker Q School
Thailand professional Thepchaiya Un-Nooh has beaten Sean O’Sullivan by a frame score of 4-3 in the best-of-seven frames Round 1 match of the last event of this season’s World Snooker Q School.
This event is being staged at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.
The Englishman, O’Sullivan, who previously in Round 2 shrugged off the likes of James Hill and Shaun Wilkes before losing out to Tian Pengfei in Round 4, has fallen down in Round 1. However, it was an accomplishing performance from the 26-year-old Thai,
Un-Nooh, as he was 3-1 down before he clawed back and registered an impressive 4-3 win.
The overall score-line between both players was 63-17, 95-0 (O'Sullivan 87), 46-62 (O'Sullivan 46), 78-5 (O'Sullivan 52), 15-65, 1-77 (Un-Nooh 45) and 20-72 (Un-Nooh 57).
The opening frame was a scrappy affair. A bout of safety play was seen among the players but in the end, it was O’Sullivan who came on top to draw the first blood 1-0. The second frame was over within a blink of an eye, as O’Sullivan fired an overwhelming
break of 87 in it to further extend his lead by 2-0.
He again was the first one to be on the run in the following third before he lost control of his emotions, breaking down on 46 and was punished by his opponent, who clinched the frame to reduce the deficit at 2-1.
O’Sullivan however restored his one-frame lead by winning the fourth with a carving break of 52. It looked as if O’Sullivan was going to secure a place in the next round but everyone was left flabbergasted when Un-Nooh, who was down by two frames with three
to play, bounced back into the game and won all of the following three frames in a row to seal a victory.
Un-Nooh, who also enjoyed superb breaks of 45 and 57 in the last two frames respectively, will now face Scotland’s Michael Leslie in the next round.
