Thepchaiya Un-Nooh fights back to beat Hossein Vafaei Ayouri in final: 7-Nation Snooker Championship
Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh put up a superb show at the Pearl Continental Hotel arena in Karachi, Pakistan to beat the Iranian National Champion, Hossein Vafaei Ayouri after a tussling final encounter of 2012 Jubilee Insurance 7-Nation International Snooker
Championship.
The spectators present at the arena watched the most thrilling encounter of the tournament as they expected before the start of competition.
The Thai potter was trailing Ayouri in the first two sessions but he bounced back brilliantly in the final session to nudge the reigning IBSF World U-21 Snooker Champion 7-6 down. The match seemed to have been in Ayouri’s hands earlier but Un-Nooh did not
lose hope and got back into the game with all his might as he gave everything he had under his sleeves.
The first session of the final contest began with Ayouri’s frame victory by 61-83 to grab the lead 0-1. The Thai cueman seemed out of luck in the match as the 17-year-old Iranian breezed into three consecutive frame wins to extend his lead to 0-4 at the
end of Session 1.
Un-Nooh clinched his first score with back-to-back frame wins early in the second session by the scores of 59-28 and 57-54. At the end of the Session 2, Un-Nooh was trailing Ayouri 3-5 and at this point, it seemed quite difficult for him to get back into
the game as the Iranian potter was in good shape.
However, Un-Nooh continued struggling and reached 6-6 in the third session after winning two frames in a row. The final frame was a piece of cake for Un-Nooh as he cruised past Ayouri with a marvellous whitewash frame victory by the score line of 92-0.
The overall score line of the match was; 61-83, 44-80, 0-75, 28-69, 59-28, 57-54, 52-65, 80-50, 78-30, 19-87, 76-42, 91-36, and 92-0.
With the victory in the 2012 Jubilee Insurance 7-Nation International Snooker Championship, Un-Nooh pocketed $2000 along with a shiny trophy while Ayouri won $1000 with a runner-up trophy. The maximum break prize of $100 and a special trophy was awarded
to the current Pakistani National Champion, Muhammad Asif for his superb knock of 136 which he potted against Un-Nooh in the semi-final clash.
