My therapist calls me a hypocondriac, this is after he accsued me of being a paranoid szchizophrenic

Is this wrong? Lets say I was these things which I assure you I am not, is he wrong to judge me like that? I try arguing with him but he tries to instill in me that I am these things(he has since rebutted on me being a paranoid schizophrenic)

  1. their are good and bad therapists

  2. no its not wrong, he just gave u the correct diagnosis

  3. i used to have a shrink that judged me and thought that i was exagerating about how unwell and tired i was kept saying i should get out more and stuff and id feel better, find new hobbys ( like i didnt have enough) ... turned out i had cancer .. it would of been found years earlier had i not listend to the shrink.

therapists, shrinks and so forth dont know everything .. even with in their own field of expertise they are just guessing. at times they are right at times they are wrong .. but its all just a guess.

and a therapist can by no means judge a persons physical health as they have no where near the training to do so.

get a full physical work up from a real dr.

id look into changing therapists too if you feel they are too judgemental.

  4. Get a new therapist.  You won't be happy until you find a therapist that is the "right fit" for you.  You should feel comfortable in therapy and with your relationship with your therapist.  Try someone else.

  5. Psychiatry is not an exact science. It exists to study, prevent and treat mental and emotional disorders. Therapists can exist in many fields related to Psychiatry. They base their diagnosis on many factors, but can only do this by what you chose to tell them. The best are trained observers and make their decisions by understanding what you are trying to reveal to them. Don't play games with them be honest and sincere about your problems and you will get the best results from them. Check you local directories and chose a Therapist that is considered one of the best in his field, so you will get the best treatment. They do not accuse or judge. They are there to help based on their knowledge and training. Good luck

  6. If he is your psychiatrist, he may be diagnosing for medical treatment purposes.  If he is your therapist (talk doc), get rid of him!!!  That is not helpful and not the way a good one works.

  7. You are sooo in the right for feeling persecuted (for lack of a better word). A therapist nis supposed to help give you some insight on what's going on with you psychologically, not get you all wound up by making assumptions, unless of course, he/she has been seeing you for some time. I couldn't tell you how many therapists and psychiatrists I've gone through over the years, many misdiagnosis along the way leading to bad choices in meds. I've finally found the right ones and am doing so much better. Do not feel awkward about getting rid of the one you have, because you have to understand that keeping this person around (who, by the way, gets paid everytime you walk through their doors) is detrimental to your well being. If it doesn't feel right, it must not be right. It's like walking around in a pair of shoes 2 sizes too small, you wouldn't want to cause any damage due to the fact that they just don't fit. If your therapist is not a good fit, get yourself a new one, don't suffer needlessly. Take care of yourself, that's what therapy is supposed to be about right? Good luck.
