  1. a psychiatrist WILL push drugs harder at you than a therapist

  2. Talk therapy vs. psychopharmacological approach.

  3. The main difference is that a psychiatist can prescribe medicine, while  psychologist cannot (most, anyway). Whichever you need (sometimes both) depends on the particular ailment.

  4. psychiatrists are legal drug dealers, therapists listen to you complain

  5. Well therapists are usually more of the social worker type and the people that actually listen to your problems and analyze what they feel is wrong with you. They are far more trained then psychiatrists in that they MUST have an masters in psychology. Whereas psychiatrists are only required to have a bachelors in most states. Although psychiatrists do a small amount of counseling, they are usually the ones therapists patients see to get their medication filled. Therapists are not allowed to sign off a prescription form for you.

  6. A psychologist is essentially a therapist.  The main difference is that a Psychiatrist is allowed to prescribe medication, and a Psychologist is not.  People either work with a Psychologist, or a Psychologist AND a Psychiatrist, never just a Psychiatrist.

  7. Medicine vs. Placebo

Psychologists/Therapists use daily training, medicine, and routines.

    Psychiatrists use jedi mind tricks.
