There's a real kid in there!?

I just came back from an afternoon at the park with my daughter (8.5 months) and for the first time she crawled all over the sandbox, dug in the sand, played with the toys in the sandbox, etc. All the while not paying much attention to me (keeping an eye on me yes, but pretty much doing her own thing). It just made me realize that there's a real kid in there, LOL!

What fun things has your baby done that makes you think wow, she's really growing up into quite the fun kid?

  1. after 7 months of playing peek-a-boo with jacob he's now trying to play it back! he's a bit hit a miss, but if i hold the laundry hamper over his head when he's sitting he tries to move it sideways so he can peek out at me and then he laughs. a lot.

  2. He's testing me.  My son is 9.5 months and when I go to put him in his carseat, he stands up in it and looks at me and smiles.  I say "Johnny, don't you want to go see grandpa (or go to the store or whatever we are doing)" and he'll giggle, grin and slowly sit down.

LOL  I just think it's adorable!

  3. Isn't both awesome *and* sad when they start becoming independent!?

I take my daughter to a Tiny Tot gymnastics class. She does great, but she pretty much sticks to my side throughout the class. A few minutes into the class, the instructor calls all the children to her for roll call.

For the first time, my daughter actually went over and sat down with all the other kids. About halfway across the room, she turned, looked at me, and said "bye, momma." And then raced over to the instructor. As strange as it sounds, it was almost a double meaning.....She's growing up. It makes me sad, a little teary eyed, but also extremely proud that my daughter is growing into a wonderful, independent kiddo.

  4. the thing that bought at tear to my eye was watching my 4 year old daughter and my 11month daughter the other day the oldest one was sitting on the floor watching dora and her younger sister crawled over and sat on her knee and put her head on her chest i just seen how close my wee girls were and it was lovely
