There's a tag on my blouse that says, "DRY CLEAN ONLY"

I need the blouse for tonight. What will happen if I wash it in cool water with mild soap? The tag says 100 percent Rayon...

it should be fine as long as you make sure the water is cool, alternatively you could go to your local dry cleansers and ask if they could fit it in for you

There are two types of rayon, viscose and polynosic.  The viscose type becomes VERY fragile when wet.  That's why they say to dry clean it; it will disintegrate if you are not careful.  Unless you have a back up outfit and don't mind destroying the blouse, wash it in lukewarm water with a mild soap.

i wouldn't use water on it but they do make home dry clean items... they look kinda like drier sheets, you throw them & your laundry in the dryer... check the laundry aisle in a grocery store... i think one of the brand names is Dryell

Lol Yahoo take so many coffee breaks you'd think that they'd be permanently on the loo!

It'll be fine if you use cold or luke warm water with mild soap. I've even put dry clean things in the wash at 30 degrees before by accident and they've been ok. I'd do it soon to esnure it dries. Since it's only for one night it'll be ok but i'd start using dry clearners for the blouse after that

You should not wash it.  If it says "DRY CLEAN", you can safely wash in cool water.  But if it says "DRY CLEAN ONLY", there are specific qualities of the fabric that will be ruined if you submerge them in water.  Go to a one-hour cleaner.

It means that you cannot use warm water and strong soap detergent to wash your blouse.

just use cold water and mild soap detergent

I would hand wash it, roll it in a towel to squeeze out the excess water and put it in the dryer on the delicate cycle if needed.
