I have no idea what to look for. The heating elements are lighting up but it takes two cycles to dry the clothes. The cycles are small loads too. I can't even fill the washer up half way because I know the dryer will take forever to dry if they are any bigger than that. Does anyone have any ideas of what it might be? Someting I can fix or something someone else needs to fix?

  1. This may be to easy but it happened to me.  My wife kept complaining about the dryer and I am not a real handy man, however, I know that she likes to use like four dryer sheets every time she starts it so I looked inside the dryer and found the problem.  Inside the dryer drum should be a couple places where there are multiple holes together.  One should blow air in and the other sucks.  Well the one that sucks was completely covered in dryer sheets.  The dryer was working perfectly except for drying the clothes.  Check it out.  This may be your problem and if it is then you will be ecstatic.  Good luck...

  2. check the vent - is it clogged?

are the external vents blocked or plugged up?

try those - and if that is clear, try adding a dry towel to the dryer with load and it will dry quicker.

    is it spinning?

  3. This happened to us at an apartment we lived at. When the maintenance guy came, he pulled out the dryer and basically just started pulling a bunch of wet lint out of the hose thingy (sorry...don't know the technical term). Basically, it had stormed and water had gotten into the hose and gotten some lint wet creating a clog. It worked perfectly after the clean-out.

  4. You need to check you dryers blower housing for lint and the blower wheel for a loose wheel. A loose blower wheel causes this. A blocked vent also. If you own a crosley norge or maytag dryer then the blower wheel is most likely the problem. If you own a kenmore whirlpool kitchenaid I would say your filter housing is full of lint and your vent pipe may be stopped up. If you own a GE hotpoint type dryer then I would say 1 of your elements is out and you probably have lint issues. If you own a frigidaire westinghouse kelvanator dryer then I would say you have thermostat issues and lint buildup.
