There's something wrong with my printer, please help!?

Okay, I opened my printer. I put in a picture in the scanner/copier thing. I pressed "Scan" but it just wont work. The scanner goes lik 1/5 of the way and goes bak and forth and stops there. What do you think the problem is?

well im not sure but make sure that a papers not jammed in it because it could really mess up your printer
