“There's still a long way to go but this is an awesome feeling,” says Fielder on winning ALCS
Detroit Tigers’ star slugger Prince Fielder is jubilant on winning the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees but still wants the bigger prize of winning the World Series.
"There's still a long way to go but this is an awesome feeling," Fielder said later in Game 4 of ALCS.
Tigers’ not only won the ALCS, but the way they outclassed the Yankees with great force is certainly a huge achievement. From the very first game to the decisive Game 4, the Tigers kept the Yankees under pressure and won in style.
Tigers won with 4-0 series hammering and did not allow any chance to the Yankees to bounce back in the seven-match series.
Above comments by Prince Fielder also suggests that the Tigers have certainly outplayed the Yankees in every area. However, at the same time he also understands that winning the ALCS is not the only achievement they needed at the moment, but to go all the way and become World Series Champions will be the real achievement.
"Yeah, we did it, It's an unbelievable feeling. ... Four more wins, guys. Four more wins," Miguel Cabrera said and explained in the media about his team’s great effort in Game 4 of American League Championship Series.
Later Tigers' manager Jim Leyland also commented in detail and told the media with great jubilation and delight as he said, "I just reminded everybody when we took our punches all year, 'You know what? Let's just wait till the end, and then if we have underachieved, I will be the first one to admit it, So hopefully we've quieted some doubters now. The guys just stepped it up when we had to. We caught a couple breaks when the White Sox couldn't win a couple of games they needed to win."
On other end, the Tigers still don’t know whom they will be playing against in the World Series seven-match encounter as both St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants are still competing in the National League Championship Series to get the final spot to play for the World Series title.
