page 31 refers to septic tanks but the whole document is useful in general.  septic tanks should have a min capacity of 2700 litres (up to 4 persons) with an additional 180 litres per extra person

go with the larger one , you wont need to empty it often , if you use a lot of water it's even better for the solids to disintegrate and go into the septic bed .

Septic systems are usually determined by the number of bedrooms in a house, not the number of people. In Florida, a 3 bedroom house needed a 900 gallon tank. 4 bedroom was 1200 gallon.
