There are baby rabbits in my yard...?

Question

Hi everybody

A couple days ago there was a rabbit in my yard and my brother and sister scared it away...now it wont come back

Then we found out it was a mommy rabbit because there is now a burrow in our front yard with 4 baby rabbits

It has been a couple days now and the mommy rabbit isn't coming back

We are getting worried and we want to feed them something before we take them out

Does anyone know what I should feed them or what I should do?!?!

Don't touch/feed them whatever you do!  If you get your scent on the baby rabbits the mother will kill them.  Keep an eye out for the mom - I'm sure she is coming by to feed her babies.  When there were baby rabbits at my house I never saw the mom.  They grew up healthy so I figured the mom took care of them.  Momma rabbits usually feed their babies in the evening.  Keep looking for her around that time - you may see her and you won't have to worry!

Don't feed them!!  If it's been a couple of days and they are still alive, mom rabbit is coming back to feed them, you just haven't seen her.  Mother rabbits visit their young once or twice a day, usually at night, to nurse.  They are with them a total of maybe 5 minutes each day. Other than that, they are alone, they do not stay with their young all the time like most other mammals.  You did not scare her off, you just haven't been watching during that 5 minutes.  Read here: http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/orpha...  It should explain this all in more detail, but they are best off if you leave them be.

i think u should call the nearest animal adoption place or something' they'll know wat to do!

I have raised baby rabbits myself,and I would advise you to phone a vet  and arrange for him to help.It sounds as if the mother has abandoned the babies,and they feed on the mothers milk.

But do not touch the babies,because if the mother does come back,she will eat the babies because of the unreconised scent.
