my roommates cats have fleas and today i saw about 20 under my sheet and on my mattress. I used the powder but I wonder about my puffy down pillow. Can they live inside it? Should i throw out my pillows? Will the fleas die from the powder if i put it on my pillows?

  1. get some garbage bags and put the pillows inside the garbage bags. Depending on how many you have I would put one pillow per bag. Close the bags up tightly and leave the pillows in the bag for two weeks. This will kill all the fleas and the eggs. If you have stuffed animals do the same also with them. I have been there so good luck.

  2. You will have to spray the whole place. Get the cats deflead (shots, shampoos, or other treatments) Use the enviromentally safe spray, spray the whole place (carpet under beds, dressers, furniture) wash any clothing, pillows, blankets, anything the cats lay on, and dry. You (and the cats) will have to leave for about 12 hours. Make sure house is completly closed up. Go back and open all windows/screen doors and let air out for a couple hours. Dont throw out the pillows washing and dryuing will kill any fleas on/in them.

  3. You should probably throw the pillow away.

  4. If I we're you, i would toss it just to be safe.

  5. I think the flea sprays would be better and then wash all bedlinen on a hot wash and tumble dry.  You probably should not sleep on the pillow until the smell of the flea spray has gone.

  6. For peace of mind I would buy a new pillow!

  7. I wouldn't toss perfectly good down pillows.  The only way fleas could live inside your pillow is if there are holes big enough for them to crawl through, but there's nothing in there for them to eat so I seriously doubt that they'd live there.. You need to get rid of the fleas on the cats.  Then get a room fogger (Raid makes good ones) and fumigate the whole room or apartment to get rid of the fleas living on the furniture, carpet, etc.

  8. if you do not want to throw the pillow away. Put it in a trash bag with the power and tie it up. Leave it for a few days then air it out really good. It should be fine then.
