they say that osgood took two dives, yet the pens failed to mention how they were basically bullying johan fanzen who just got back from concussion like symptons...i clearly saw two shots to the head that were totally uncalled for and only one was penalized

  1. Those were such obvious dives it wasn't funny.

and yes he is a dirty player.

THat whole team played dirty in game 2. It was so disgusting to watch. If this is what gets you championships. Especially after Last years Stanley Cup Finals I don't want anything to do with the NHL.

This Red Wings team should be suspended for their cheap and dirty tactics. AND Red WIngs fans can sit there and call Crosby dirty?

You guys are pathetic. Yeah.. you will most likely get your cup. It's funny how you sat there and cried when the Devils beat the snot out of you.. NOW you play an even more dirty game. I guess if the refs allow it; do it.

I thought the Ducks were dirty. You guys make the Rangers, Flyers and Ducks combined seem like clean teams.

Its also funny how you cried about the Devils trap game and here you are playing the exact same game. GEE not so bad now is it.

FUNNY, how you have Rafalski.. an ex Devils player.

and you guys are using the trap.. This is even more funny.

When Stanley Cups can be bought like this. It just makes the league lose it's integrity.

I might as well watch the WWE.

  2. Dirty? I don't think so. What has he done to be called dirty? He may have embellished a hit or two, but that's not being dirty. Dirty is trying to hurt or injure another player. Osgood hasn't done any of that.

I know Therrien is trying to influence the refs, but his remarks are totally off base and show his desperation.

  3. They were stupid comments, pure and simple - things that after the season is over they'll regret having said.

What gets me is that the guy who punched Franzen in the head claims he didn't do it.  I mean, if you want to suggest the guy went down to help the call, fine (always up for debate), but to claim you didn't punch him in the head?  Duh, we do have video tape, you know.

The same can be said for the Osgood thing at the end of the game.  Whether you think he dove or not (and if he did and it worked, more power to him), there's very little room to suggest he didn't get hit intentionally, unless the player coming at him had a sudden epileptic fit.

    Frustration brings out strange behaviors.

  4. I do not believe Osgood is a dirty player.  He is a seasoned veteran that knows how to get under the other teams skin, as when we had Roy.  (I hope I don't get ridiculed by too many Avs fans for this comment.)

No mistakes about it though, I still hate the Red Wings.

  5. Pens fans are crybabies. Marty Turco is way dirtier than Osgood. He mugged Holmstrom throughout the Dallas-Detroit series, slashing, spearing and punching Homer in the back of the head while Holmstrom was clearly outside of the crease.

The Penguins are being taken to class right now and Therrien is already talking about next year. The dirty players are clearly on the Penguins side of the ice, taking cheap shots out of frustration. I'll be surprised if Roberts dresses for any more games. He'll only cost them.

If Osgood was a dirty goalie, by definition he'd receive a lot of tripping and slashing calls. He doesn't. He's a positional goalie who helps his team clear the puck.

  6. Hey Chuchan, no hard feelings- Quebec City still hates YOU for stealing Les Nordiques as they were poised to win the cup. The franchise was solid, but the NHL wanted another team in Denver after the Rockies failed so miserably. (Just in case, since Avs fans tend to know little about hockey, in the 1970s, Denver had an NHL team named the Colorado Rockies, now the NJ Devils.)

I gave you a thumbs up for honesty.

  7. it's frustration and the fact that they can't admit they are being dominated by the better team.  Osgood doesn't dive, but, like any other goalie in the league, will embelish a play that should've been called, in order to get the referees attention.

  8. The Penguins are the LAST team that should be talking about diving.  Calling a goalie a diver is like calling the pope catholic.  There is no goalie who doesn't do that.  As far as EVEN MORE comments from Therrien, he is just showing what he and his team are made of.  Classless babies.  To say that Osgood initiated contact against Sykora is ludicrous.  To say Sykora was going to retrieve a puck is ludicrous.  The puck was not even close to going behing the net and he threw his shoulder into Osgood.  As far as the Malone penalty, first of all Hossa should have gotten a trip right before that, then Malone went into the crease.  Osgood initiated that contact, but Malone has to be in control of where he is.  Turco did the same thing on a couple of occasions and drew Holmstrom into penalties.  Holmstrom didn't iniate contact, but he was still there and the goalie always gets the benefit of the doubt.  Maybe you blind Pens should look at your own team, Twice Fleury tried to stick his butt out to interfere with Detroit players, guaranteed if they made contact he would have gone down.  We all remember him doing that in the Flyers series.  ALL GOALIES DIVE.

I really thought that after the dust settled in Detroit, that Pittsburgh would maybe get their heads on straight and only talk about their own game to the media, but NOPE, Therrien continued the sour grapes act.  THIS WILL NOT HELP WIN GAMES.  It will motivate the other team to play even better.  IT WILL NOT MOTIVATE YOUR TEAM.  What's a better motivational speech when your team is sucking...

GET OFF YOUR @SSES AND START PLAYING...

    or

DON'T WORRY GANG, THEY'RE CHEATERS SO WE WILL BE ALRIGHT.

How is this going to help YOUR TEAM PLAY BETTER.  I know you want more power plays, the only part of the game your good at, but STOP WHINING.  Leave the whining to us fans.  I didn't hear you whining about the "no-goal" call, if the Osgood plays weren't interference, then that "no-goal" sure as heck wasn't.  It still doesn't change the fact that your YOUNG Pens are taking absolutely idiotic penalties.  Malone was supposed to add fire to the top line, all he did was take asanine penalties.  The refs DON'T want a parade to the box in the Finals, but the Pens aren't giving them any choice.  Ryan Whitney's sucker punch, I know it wasn't very hard, but it was RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE REF.  Then he had the balls to complain about it.  DON'T DO STUPID S**t LIKE THAT.  IT'S THE FRICKIN FINALS.  Bonehead plays are what young inexperienced teams do, and the Penguins are doing bonehead plays.

I believe the Penguins started to actually believe the media hype about themselves.  They really believed that since they didn't have any problems throughout the Eastern Conference series, that they could breeze through the best team in the league.  It's time for you guys to really look in the mirror to find the problems, not the other lockerroom.  You guys said your inexperience wouldn't be a factor.  So far you are not showing that AT ALL.  All your team has done is lose two games on the road.  The series is far from over, but never have you really acted like it.  Do you really believe you have a chance?  When you whine to the media like that it shows that your team has ZERO confidence.  THIS IS WHERE EXPERIENCE COUNTS.  Knowing that a series isn't over til its over.  Maybe the Pens can fight their way back in now that they are at home, but I can't see that happening.  They probably will win one of these two games, but not two.

  9. No, I don't think Ozzie is a dirty player.  First off, he's not really known for taking dives like a lot of the other goalies that have been in the NHL.  As far as the "dive" in game 2 goes, he genuinely was hit (although not that hard) and wouldn't have been able to get up and back around to the front of the net in time so his best bet was to stay down until the whistle.  It was a smart move to protect his shutout streak that he has going.

You hit the nail on the head when you said that Franzen was being bullied by the Pens.  They knew that he just came back after missing 6 games for concussion like symptoms and the first thing they did was go directly for his head to try and take him out.  On any level that just wasn't right.  It's a good thing that Franzen is a stubborn mule and bounced right back.

At this point, it just seems like it's frustration playing out.  I think because the Pens were built up as this young unstoppable team, they're letting their frustrations show over the fact that they can't get a goal.  As a Wings fan, I'm in no way, shape, or form rooting for them, but if they want to attempt to make a comeback, they need to stop and refocus and start playing some real hockey.  If they stop letting their frustrations get the best of them and stay out of the penalty box, then they can make these last couple of games a little more interesting.

    Go Wings!!!!!

  10. Just rumors. I cannot believe that the Pens coach is taking the attitude he is. He is more or less accusing the wings of obstruction........cheating. I thought we were watching professional sports and not the peewee league. It is kind of sad that this has to go on.

  11. The Pens, coach Therrien in particular, are certainly going down like babies. Too bad cuz they have a good team and this is a pathetic way to explain their poor play.

  12. Definitly not a dirty player overall - there have not been complaints like that against him for the majority of his career, he's starting to get scrappy this playoffs but it's working. I've seen Hasek flop a couple memorable times, a few where it was so obvious the refs whistled him for it or better yet, just let the other team put it by him while he's looking around like a fool. But I wouldn't say Osgood is a routine diver

  13. Dewman:  You hit the nail on the frickin head!  BRAVO!!!

    Go Wings

  14. He didn't get called for it.  The last one WAS a bit suspect, though and I love Ozzie!  I think most goalies are a bit into the dive.

And the obvious slugs to Franzen's head is just down right dirty play.
