Hi, for the past day, my jaw bone (or joints) in my mouth feels like its 'clicking' when i move my chin left and right. I only feel it on the left side of my mouth. It doesn't hurt, its just very annoying. It bothers me alot when i eat. I went to the dentist this morning and they took an X- ray. They said it was my joints. They said to go to an Oral Surgan. I move my chin left and right and it feels and hears like its 'clicking' or 'popping'......What should i do for this to go away? Should i chew on a certin thing or should i take a certin medicine/pill to take daily? I really need your help. Thank you :)

  1. If you were told to go to an Oral Surgeon, Maybe you should.

I get clicking in my jaw when i chew too, it's sooo annoying!!

A few months ago i hurt my throat and jaw during sport. Pretty much what happend was i got smashed in the throat and my jaw got sort of put out and now it clicks all the time. I had to go to hospital incase i stopped breathing and the doctor asked me to bite down on a sterile stick. I could bite it without it causing too much pain which meant my jaw wasn't broken, just a little pushed around.

I havent had any pain, just a clicking noise, so i don't think i'll bother getting it x-rayed.

I just put up with the annoying click because it doesn't happen all the time.

I think you do need to see the oral surgeon, or ask your doctor what you can do.

I'm pretty sure there are no medicines or pills that can stop joints popping. Maybe take what older people with bad joints take - something that will help with the cushioning in your  joints and stop them cracking, but i don't know.

Maybe you'll have to just put up with it. Good luck, hope you can fix it.

  2. ok so why didn't the dentis just tell you you had that jaw disorder  my friend has it and it can be painful and if you have it very bad they do do surgery to realign it...i forgot what it was called or what the initials stood for but maybe someone else knows...its TMK or TKM???

  3. I have the same problem, its no big deal  you can buy a mouth guard at CVS or a store like that, its usually from grinding your teeth at night.
