  1. I though about buying a 944 for $1,500 back in 2001. I'm glad I didn't; it would have needed probably about $5,000 in work. Unless you're looking for a project car, and you're okay with the fact that no Porsche is cheap, pass on it.

  2. If the car is leaking coolant or powersteering it would be as easy as finding the hose or gasket its leaking from... leaking oil could be the head gasket or something else...my 944 was leaking clutch fluid from the slave cylinder so i had to get a new one... but if the car is in ood condition well taken car of and maintenced it wouldnt be a bad deal...keep in mind parts are NOT CHEAP, parts are expensive in some cases and even hard to find, ive replaced many parts on my 84 944...

  3. I'd say no, unless you got a LOT of money to spend on repairs and maintenance. Porsches and other exotic cars are very expensive to run, and the 944 was only a glorified VW anyway. So I'd stay away.

  4. its not wort it unless you can verify the exact amount of mileage it has on it,i got one of those cars, mine is a 87 model,944,and i only have about 500 in it,their not selling real good right now,so be careful their very expensive to work on,and parts are very high for them,i guarantee you that car can be bought for a lot less money,i wouldn't pay 3 k for it,its probably worth about 1500 right now, depending on the condition of it,one that was a one owner low mileage in perfect condition would be a different story,it would be worth a lot more right now, good luck.
