  1. there is the possibility of jail time with every fine and charge... and yes it will be on your record for the rest of your life, depending on the nature of the crime and the state you live in...

  2. In TX no jail can be issued for a class C misdemeanor because the range of punishment is $0-500.  However, if the fine is not paid, then an arrest warrant will be issued and then jail can come into play.  A Class C is on ones record forever until one makes effort to have it expunged off of their record.  Fortunately if one completes a deferred adjudication, the Class C can be expunged at a later time (some offenses are excluded from this though--consult an attorney).

  3. Conviction of a Class C misdemeanor does not impose any

legal disability or disadvantage. Just pay the fine and stay out of trouble for 6 months then it's all in the past.

  4. "Class C" means different things in different states. In Texas, for instance, it is a fine-only offense with a $500 maximum fine. Straight up guilty plea or conviction at trial? Permanent, but, if you weren't arrested and taken to jail, it will appear only in the court record and the records of the agency that filed it.

  5. Yes, you can get jail time up to 1 year.
