ok,

i have a quarter sized bump on my left foot. it is right around this area of my foot... http://drshoe.wordpress.com/2008/02/03/t... (that is not my foot)

it DOES hurt. im a gymnast and its getting in the way. my mom doesnt think its much so she wont go to get it x-rayed,(but she might call the doctor tomarrow.). my bros and parents think im faking the pain but im not! my foot hurts to walk on it.

•what is it?

•will it go away on its own, will doing gymnastics make it heal slower?

  1. If your pain is in the same area as the photo (on top) then consider an absess (particularly if it is red and sore and feels like it could be full of fluid).

If it hurts all the way through...like underneath but inside of your foot...consider plantar faciitis. This is inflammation of the tendons in your foot. This is particularly possible if it hurts more in the morning prior to getting up and walking on it and it gets better with time and walking.

Did you possibly get bitten by a bug? does it look infected?

It is difficult to say with the information you have given...but consider that an infection may need treated by a doctor. Inflammation like plantar faciitis takes a treatment regime. You may want to consider a bone spur or fracture too. These would require a MD.
