It's a circle divided into thirds. First, someone in my school showed it to me. He had wrote it on his palm, and told me it was a symbol that said, "We can do whatever we want and we don't believe in laws." Then I saw it in the movie, "The Chamber." There a certain person with that symbol on his shirt and under the symbol was the word: "Anarchy." Then I saw it on www.lifeisgood.com. I love Life is Good apparel, but if that company is displaying a symbol that means anarchy and disobeying the law, should I still buy stuff from Life is Good? And what does this symbol REALLY mean?

  1. The symbol is the 70's hippie sign. Most people use it for a peace sign.

  2. The peace symbol is a circle with one vertical line, and two diagonal lines from the center down towards either side. It comes from the semaphore code for N[uclear] D[isarmament] and has been used for other anti-war causes.

The anarchy symbol is a circle with an A. It comes from the slogan "anarchy is order."

  3. A within the circle (actually an O} is a symbol for Anarchy.  It means Anarchy is Order. It is usually described as A within an O.

  4. Circle divided in threes is peace sign. Same as "V" with index and middle finger. Symbol in circle is the same sign.

  5. If it looks like the Mercedes-Benz symbol, it's a "Peace Sign."

The 3 parts inside the circle are representing a stylized missile, as in a nuclear missile/ICBM. The circle around it represents 'containing' the missile (i.e., preventing the missile from flying), hence a sign of peace instead of war.

The "peaceniks" might have been seen as 'anarchists' by The Establishment at the time, but anarchy was NOT part of their agenda; anarchy implies no rule-of-law. The peaceniks wanted the Laws of Human Life to be applicable to the continuation of a peace-filled life here on Earth, NOT InterContinental Ballistic Missiles flying from east to west and west to east between Russia and America. It more broadly was applied to ALL forms of war, not just missiles.

  6. It's a peace sign.  The anarchy symbol includes an 'A'.

  7. An "A" inside of a circle is for anarchy

that website has peace signs on their stuff
