There is a flower symbol (4 petals) under the battery icon in my e61i screen. how can i remove that?

That is a macro symbol showing that you are in close up mode. Check your manual but there should be a button on the camera that allows you scroll through all the different functions. If you see that symbol it should mean you are in the macro mode and you may not be able to take sharp normal distance pictures,
