  1. First, identify the bee. Is it furry? If not, it is a large wasp known as a "cicada killer". If it is furry, are the bands on the abdomen a distinct pattern of yellow and black? If they are, it is a bumblebee. If not, it is a carpenter bee.

A cicada killer is probably the most dangerous, but none of them are really anything to seriously worry about unless you happen to be allergic to bee stings. If you are, have someone who isn't allergic come in and kill whatever it is.

Flying insects are easy to capture with a large glass and a stiff piece of paper. The insect will invariably fly against a windowglass, because it is attracted to the largest, brightest spot in the house. To the insect, this is an opening it can escape through. Of course it can't and will fly against the window trying to get out. Carefuly place the glass over the insect, trying not to catch any part of it's body under the rim of the galss. Bees and wasps don't sting unless they are injured and if it remains undamaged, it will be paying more attention at escaping than anything else. Once the insect is inside the glass, carefully slide the paper under the galss. The paper will have to be large enough to completely cover the bottom and stiff enough not to bend. Sometimes a piece of plastic works, but not if it has a rim. Once the insect is inside the glass, carry it outside and holding bottom of the galss away from you, uncover it. The bee will immediately fly away from you.

If this seems too complicated, use a flyswatter if the insect is small enough. Remember, an injured bee will counterattack if it can, so you will need to kill it on the first strike.

  2. try and catch it in something.

like a long net or something.

this way you wont have to get to close to it.

when you catch it, release it outside. away from your house.
