There is a girls golf team at my school...?

I'm going to high school next year and they are starting a new girls golf team and I was wondering what my chances of making it would be. I am pretty much starting off from square1, I know nothing I have hardly swung a club in my life!

Both my parents are good golfers and want me to play but I don't know if lessons in the summer are going to cut it especially if I'm playing with people who have played their whole lives.

So basically is there any advice you can give me on how to learn fast..or and tricks or should I even try at all, what are my chances at becoming a good golfer in a couple of months?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Since its a new team I would say your chances are pretty good. My high school added a girls team my junior year, and that year they didnt make cuts to increase involvement.

Start hitting the driving range, see your local pro, and PRACTICE THE SHORT GAME!

  2. Jen,

People that have been playing their whole life are probably some of the best people other then paying pros for lessons to learn from. Learn from your parents. Let them teach you how to play. Also practice, practice, practice.

  3. Well practice practice and practice......ask oyur coaches what how am i suppose to hold my grip and how to hit the ball.....and you have a good chance if there is only like five  high school.... and i bet you are a really good golkfer

  4. Like anything in life, practice, practice and once you've done that, practice some more.  Take some lessons to get a solid foundation going and just keep practicing and expand on your lessons.  There are no real tricks to becoming a good golfer, just hard work and determination.  Get going, try out for the team, and see what happens, think, free golf if you make the team, which was the only reason I played in high school!

  5. Of course you can become a good golfer in a relatively short time.  However, it depends on your willingness to work very hard at it.  First, take lessons from a professional at the golf club.  Practice, practice, practice.

Please do not take lessons from you parents of friends.

The important thing is to have fun and learn the essence of the game.

    Good luck.

  6. Chance of making it year one probably next to none but since they don't currently  have a golf team just depends on how many young girls play in your area. Maybe by next year if you learn exceptionaly fast since they don't already have golf team. Take lessons from local club pro.  It's very important you don't ingrain bad habits early. Golf is a lot about muscle memory so learning proper fundamentals early is key if your serious about wanting to play the game to the best of your ability.
