  1. Bob's response is very interesting.  Solar radiation was responsible for the MWP that allowed grapes to be grown all over Britain.  But yet solar scientists have now stated that solar activity is at a 10000 year high, but has played no role during this warming.  Very odd reasoning.

The truth is human civilization always flourishes during warm periods.  That is why they keep having to make predictions of very high future temperatures to get  people to support their cause.

  2. As the Earth cools and it is. These same fear mongers are starting to change from calling it global warming to calling it climate change and they are changing their story real fast.

We need to keep up with them.

Yes years ago crops of all sorts thrived in the north.

Historians also recorded snow caps melting off of mountains in places where it was unheard of.

  3. It is still posible to grow grapes in the UK. But what is the point? The climate now (or then) is not ideal for grape growing and years ago the wine was a bit rough but, it did get you drunk. Now you can buy imported wine that gets you drunk and tastes better. And the land can now be used for the things that the UK is more suitable for, like, erm.... erm... oh, standing around and complaining about the weather and opening corner shops.

  4. Warm enough to grow grapes now and they do, but no matter.  In the medieval warming period the earth had a few hundred million people now there are six and a half billion to feed with many living on low lying coastal land.  Global warming will be an increasingly serious problem and difficult to deal with.

  5. What Caused the Ice Ages and Other Important Climate

    Changes Before the Industrial Era?

"The fact that natural factors caused climate changes in the past does not mean that the current climate

change is natural. By analogy, the fact that forest fires have long been caused naturally by lightning strikes does not mean that fires cannot also be caused by a careless camper."

How do Human Activities Contribute to Climate Change and How do They Compare with Natural Influences?

    http://www.gcrio.org/ipcc/ar4/wg1/faq/ar...

"Human activities contribute to climate change by causing changes in Earth’s atmosphere in the amounts of greenhouse gases, aerosols (small particles), and cloudiness. The largest known contribution comes from the burning of fossil fuels, which releases carbon dioxide gas to the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases and aerosols affect climate by altering incoming solar radiation and out-

going infrared (thermal) radiation that are part of Earth’s energy balance. Changing the atmospheric abundance or properties of these gases and particles can lead to a warming or cooling of the climate system. Since the start of the industrial era (about 1750), the overall effect of human activities on climate has been a warming influence. The human impact on climate during this era greatly exceeds that due to known changes in natural processes, such as solar changes and volcanic eruptions."

  6. An increase in solar radiation then is the likely cause.

How do we know that's not going on now?  Simple, we routinely measure the Sun, and solar radiation has been going DOWN for years while temperatures are going UP.  Proof.
