  1. Well, as much as I know Tiago is the portuguese short for Santiago.

  2. According to an Article in Bloodhorse, it is Portugese (I believe) for James

The horses half brother, Giacomo was Italian for James too.  Interesting.  Same group of owners

  3. Tiago is sort of like the spanish name Diego.  Diego and Santiago can both be translated as James.  If you break down Santiago, "san" means (a male) saint and you're left with James for "tiago."  Santiago is the name of James in the Spanish language version of the Bible.  Santiago and SanDiego likely evolved from the same ancient word.  I don't think Tiago is a separate spanish word and I don't think it's even used as a Spanish name separate from Santiago (maybe as a nickname) like Diego is.  You can read more about it here if you're interested: http://spanish.about.com/od/historyofspa...

  4. Jerry Moss owns both Giacomo and Tiago.  He co-founded A&M Records and both Giacomo and Tiago were named after the sons of artists on his record label.  Giacomo was named for Sting's son, Tiago is the son of Sergio Mendes and both names translate to James in English.

  5. Tiago is a porteguese word short for santiago which was a naval battle in the Spanish-American war.

  6. "Tiago" is the shortened form of the name Santiago.
