  1. id send my cat round if i could, he just killed one last night, Yuk its that flapping and horrible thick body. Still we must remember its one of gods creatures. lol

  2. Play moth-balls with it!

Seriously, I hate the d**n things too, yet I hate killing things toowhich makes it more of a problem.

And they are b......s to hit anyway.

I usually give up, shut off the lights and leave the room.  The next morning the chances are they are waiting on the window - (they`ve seen the light) and are then easier to persuade out the window.

  3. Creep up to it slowly, without making a sound.

Have a mug ready in ur hand.

Then when it least expects it, trap it under the mug and leave it over night so that it suffocates.

I did this once and the moth left tiny yellow eggs all in the mug the next morning. But it was most definitely dead. TRUE STORY!

  4. Saw on a program yesterday that you can shut off your light and turn on a light in another room and the moth should fly to the light.

  5. ugh i hate moths...can ya call someone in to grab it? thats wat i do lol

  6. wusssss  ...hit it with a rolled up newspaper

  7. Not funny. Get a piece of paper, put on some gloves if you are afraid, and gently move up to the moth so as not to frighten it and slide the paper under its feet so it can alight. Quietly take the paper to the window and drop it outside, moth and all. If the moth flies away before you get there, sigh, and repeat. The idea is not to frighten the moth any more than it already is. It flutters about because it is upset.

It is probably female. So treat it with the respect you would treat another woman. Everything is in gentle mode, in other words, including you. No need to waste all your precious energy getting upset over something which will soon be solved.

Again. Gloves. Move slowly so as not to frighten her. Give her the paper - and if that is too close for comfort, find something else, and just gently allow her to climb onto it (I have done this by the way and it works every time). Be slow and determined. She will cooperate because she wants to get free every bit as much as you want a good night's sleep. Breathe. Begin.

If you find yourself getting frightened again, cry. Then compose yourself and begin again. If you are patient and kind, the moth will be an historical event you can remember in the morning.

  8. have you tried turning off the light for a few mins to see if it flies back out of the window?

  9. I'm a bit of a moth fan, but it's still not pleasant when they fly in your face.

Open the windows, turn the lights out, leave the room and shut the door behind you.  Stay out for about 20 - 30 minutes.

If you are able, put a very bright torch outside your room (on the lawn or driveway or wherever if poss) and this will help attract it out of the room.  A dish of sugary solution may also help depending on what type of moth it is.

  10. You put the lights out, open the window fully and then put a table lamp on,and place it on the outside ledge of the window. He will go to the light, then you shut the window. When he flies off,in a huff, retrieve the lamp. You soppy thing.Don't go to sri lanka, you have to go to sleep with a gecko lizard on the ceiling,it fell on my face in the middle of the night

  11. Try the light idea. It usually works well for me.

Otherwise, cover your ears and hide under your duvet.

and next time, don't leave the window open in the evening!

P.S. If you can capture it under a plastic tub then do that. Then slide a big sheet of newspaper underneath, wrap it around the tub and throw the whole thing out of the window!

  12. lol...i know JUST what u mean, scary things aren't they!......

Get a glass, or cup, a piece of A4 paper, or card...put the glass over the ugly fat bodded thing and slide the paper underneath..throw the lot out of the windown onto the garden, the shudder, just like i do.

  13. Tell it quite firmly that either it leaves the room or you do!
