there is a jog-a-thon tomorrow, and I am in the 7th grade. 8th and 7th grade run together. They want us to run at least 14 laps(school parking lot) but I am lucky if I get 8. I am overweight(5'4" 180 pounds) (I am dieting. I used to be 194 a few weeks ago) and it is very hard for me to run. I get out of breath, and Start to walk and my legs hurt badly. Afterwards I always get made fun of. ( people will say things like," why didn't finish, too fat huh?" and "hey fatty, our of breath after that one lap eh?") but of course my guy friend gives me a hug and praises my effort

do you have any running tips?

  1. Try to ignore them.  You are doing this for you - not them.  Try run/walking.  Run for 30 seconds and walk for 2 or 3 minutes.  Good luck to you.

  2. just don't listen to those jerks. I hate people who makes fun of people. Do ur best. that's all u could do. I'm really srry those people r so mean to u!

  3. Well if they didn't say you have to do it in a certain time that means you can make it taking baby steps. Don't take off like a sprinter because you'll gas out faster. Take your time its better to do 14 laps slowly that 2 fast. Most people want to lose weight fast, say working out for a month. Then they stop because it's boring, there friends don't want to exercise or they achieved their goal. Then they get mad when they gain the weight again. Make your workout a fun lifestyle  so you stay on track. If as a child you liked to play basketball or ride a bike or swim do it, this should keep you on track for life. Go back to what's FUN for you. I prefer running or biking because you don't depend on anybody but yourself to get your workout.

  4. who cares wut they think they may b faster but i bet u have somethin that they dont got like an awesome kid who is talkin 2 ya (me) but just ignore them u cant rly help it and just go at a pace thats good 4 u

  5. just start of slow and keep running at that pace

who cares what they all think

    stuff them all

  6. Be you! don't worry what they say. ignore them i know it can be hard sometimes. But you know your goals and what you want to acomplish and thats all that matters. If you have to walk then walk but try to run as much as you can. Don't over push yourself to prove your self to them because you can hurt yourself. Take it one step at a time. Make sure you strecth before and after you run. And have fun. and good luck!
