She makes comments like she has African American hair? I am not sure what that means. She uses a black dialect when speaking and say "Right On" to the black employees and Nada or counts in Spanish to the Hispanic employees. She used an example of being sent to North side of town which is mostly black where I live to buy a uniform, she could have just said what if the company sent you to pay your own money to purchase a ugly uniform in order to keep your job, the North side of town comment has no bearing on what we were discussing. She is a trainer for a satellite tv company, she has already shown a s*x scene on the big scene during our training class and it was reported and nothing happened, now she continues to make these unnecessary remarks. Should I just kick her *** and let the job go?

  1. Go to your Human Resources Director and mention it. She needs sensitivity training.

  2. Couple of things you can do. If you are comfortable, talk with the lady and inform her that you feel uncomfortable with the situation. If you are not comfortable with talking to her, talk with the HR department and explain the situation that you are uncomfortable with her and that she is creating a "hostile work environment" for you.

If the company doesn't take action, and the lady continues, and HR hasn't done anything, or the company starts to make your job a living night mare, then go to the labor board and tell them your situation. You may have to quit your job before going to the labor board.

  3. It doesn't sound like she is necessary racist, but mostly ignorant. She also seems to lack professional and social skills. To be the devil's advocate, it could be that she grew up in a hispanic or african american neighborhood and those expressesions are really a part of her speech?  Don't look for another job just yet, but don't bring yourself down to her level, and try to stay positive.  She is not worth losing your job over.
