There is a massive danger of burn out for all players, says Rod Lawler – Snooker Update
During the final proceedings of the 2012 World Snooker Championship, the snooker governing body, World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) made some announcement about the 2012-13 Snooker Season campaign. The association added some more
snooker events in the new season calendar. With the addition of these new events, there will be more than 30 snooker tournaments in the new calendar.
The addition of new events was welcomed by most of the players but some of them opposed the addition as they thought that the players will not be able to have a break during their season run. They believed that the potters should have some spare time during
the season run so that they can spend some time with their friends and families.
These players include the four-time World Snooker Champions, John Higgins and Ronnie O’Sullivan. Neither one is taking part in the new season campaign. However, there are reports that both of them will be back in the 2012 Shanghai Masters. England’s Rod
Lawler also supports their point of view and believes that there will be massive danger of burn out for the players if they do not take any breaks between two events in the new snooker season.
During his interview with Pro Snooker Blog, Lawler said, “I think that there is a massive danger of burn out for all of the players and I am in that bracket. I haven’t really had a break since last season, after the World Championship I made the decision
to go into Q School so I just carried on playing snooker for a month.”
He added, “I am one of them players who will have breaks in the middle of the season and I will put my cue in a cupboard for a week or two weeks when I can and I don’t play snooker at all. I’m not one of them who has to hit a ball every day and I never have
been.”
He is now on his new season campaign and will be taking part in the 2012 World Snooker European Tour. The Englishman has performed convincingly so far and hopes to make an appearance in the upcoming snooker tournaments.
