There is a mysterious goo in my contacts after i take them out of my eye?

i opened a new pair of monthly contact lens. i wore them twice then waited 5 days until wearing them again. i noticed my contacts smelled a little funny, like a funk-mucous smell, when i was putting them in so i gave them an extra good cleaning. when i took out my contacts about 5 hours later there was a gunk inside my contacts that looked whitish-clear. did i not clean my contacts well enough or is it a problem with my eyes? i didn't think it could be the contacts cause they're fairly new, but i have never seen a problem like this before in 8 years of wearing them. thanks

  1. It's hard to say for sure but most likely it came from your eye.  If it happens again I suggest contacting your eye doctor.

Do NOT use baby shampoo IN your eye - when prescribed it is for use ONLY on the margin of the eyelids (along the eyelashes) and never in the eye itself.

  2. I'm no doctor but I would say it's mucous from your eyes.  This is what my ophthalmologist told me to do.  Get Johnson's Baby Shampoo and take one drop, put it on your finger and clean your eye with it.  Then do the other eye.  That will not damage your eyes.  Clean your contacts before putting them back in.  I hope that helps.  It does with mine.  It can also be a sign of dehydration too, so drink a lot of water.
