There is a painful bulge below my belly button?

to the left. I thought it was an ovarian cyst but the ultrasound technician said my ovaries were perfectly normal.

So what is this golf ball-sized, painful, tender bulge that is growing increasingly uncomfortable? It's even scarier now that I have no idea what it could be.

I know I need to see a normal Dr. instead of a Gyno now, but for reasons I won't bore you with, I don't expect to be able to see one very soon. WHAT is going on with me?

  1. There are likely not any doctors in this forum; so, you need to make an appointment pronto.   It could be an excellent idea to check with a urologist; that just may be the one that can diagnose and get to the core of your problem.

  2. It could be a hernia, go see a doctor.

  3. Hernia

  4. I have one on both sides of my belly button and it is a hernia. You probabably have a hernia too. An MD can tell you if you need surgery now to repair it or if it will be ok for a while. Don't do any heavy lifting, it will make the hernia worse if that is what you have and I am betting you do. They are pretty common if you have had any kind of surgery through the belly button or if you have strained your stomach trying to lift things that are too heavy for you to lift. Your MD can tell you but a Gyno may be able to tell you since they have seen hernias after women have babies that were pretty large.

  5. Its possibly a hernia. They're normally right around your belly button. A hernia is a protrusion of a tissue, structure, or part of an organ through the muscular tissue or the membrane by which it is normally contained. The hernia has three parts: the o*****e through which it herniates, the hernial sac, and its contents.

  6. You didn't mention it, but I am wondering if you have a belly ring? If so, it could have gotten infected and then caused a nearby lymph node to swell and become palpable. I think you should definitely see a physician. Especially if you have other symptoms of systemic infection: fever and general malaise.

Good luck, hope just a good round of antibiotics takes care of it.

  7. i had one of these on my neck and the doctor couldnt explain it, i think it was a cyst. it just went away.

could be that because we have lymph nodes all over our body, i dont know about on your tummy, but obviously you need to see a doctor

and you should make it a priority, to be honest. could be serious

  8. The fact that it's tender is actually a good sign. Rules out some of the more serious problems.

Will you be seeing your gyno soon? If so then they'd be able to tell you what you should do as well. While they are specialized they still have the same 4 years of general training that a GP would have.

It sounds like a subcutaneous (or sebaceous) cyst tbh, but only a doctor can tell you for sure. Don't try to puncture it yourself, as it could be infected.
