I went to the hospital and they scanned me they said they found a yolk and gestation sac which makes me 5 weeks pregnant my hormone levels are 2500 i have to go in for another scan when I'm 6 weeks and then they can hear a heartbeat is this normal as i lost a baby last year i just hope everything is gonna be okay when i go back to the hospital to have that scan

  1. yes it sounds pretty normal. Just make sure that when you go into to get your scan that you ask all your question. Anything your worried about or just want to know


  2. That sounds 100% normal.  At 6 weeks they should be able to see the fetal pole and the heartbeat.  But don't panic if no heartbeat is heard at 6 weeks, sometimes it takes a little bit longer (some people only hear it at 8 weeks).

    There is already a yolk present, which means that this is not a blighted ovum.  The "yolk" becomes the fetus.  Next time you go, if the gestational sac and the fetal pole are seen and have grown appropriately then everything is exactly as it should be.

    Best of luck!  I know it is very difficult to be hopeful when you have already lost a pregnancy, but take heart in knowing that practically nothing will irreparably damage a healthy, established pregnancy.
