There is alot of carp on top of the water,i dont kno what carps like and how to keep my bait from seeking down

Question

i fish here at a river,its like a dark brown color,its calm the water and carps are hanging out under this tree lim the other side,they look real good size,i never caught one before,but now i wanna try catch one,i dont know what to use,im un experience when it come to carps,tell me everything you know anout carps please,do they like the bait to float up in the water?um do i use float or would it scared them off?what kinda bait they like?please give me all the info about them,fishing is one of my hobbies,i rather do that then anything else,also what type of hook is best for them,

First off DON'T eat them. These are dirty fish. They eat just about anything. But thats the problem it gets soggy and then they suck it in there mouth and it comes off.  You could throw half pieces of bread ad have them follow the bread close to you. If you are on a dock sometimes  you can get them right next to you ane put the bait right in front of them. Power bait sticks preety food and so do worms. There is a tool I know you can buy at wal-mart that fills the worm with air. Use weights to. Good Luck and have fun.
