There is an odor coming from my washing machine drain. How do I correct this?

  1. We had the same problem. It most often is buildup of residue in places you can't reach or see. I found this article on line which solved the problem for us:

  2. you need descaling of it.

  3. Run a washer load of only 2 cups bleach and water - NO CLOTHES. That should wash out any mold that's in the washer and the drain. If you can, put a cup of vinegar in the rinse cycle.

    You can also pour some vinegar and baking soda in the drain and it should also clean out the drain, but don't put it in the washing machine.

  4. Poorly ventilated sewage line? Partially clogged drain line from soap build up?  Remove washer drain hose and flush with a garden hose, possibly use a degreaser or drain opening product.

  5. probably is mold, I just dump bleach into anything that smells, except the kids
