Here's the story... We are renting from a woman who own's the apartment.. We have tried to call her many many times to fix things and now she avoids our phone calls.. There's a huge sewage leak coming from the bathroom and the apartment complex management says they can't do anything because they don't own the apartment. And they tell us to call the owner!!!! Yeah RIGHT! WHO do we contact to get help?!?!

  1. Wow, THAT is awful.

There was a similar story on our local news in Dallas lately.

Do you have a local news team that does a "what's bugging you?" kind of segment, where they'll help you through the obstacles that you're facing as a consumer/renter?

That's what this group of apartment renters did against their management company, they called the local news station and it was straightened out within a day.

If you don't have a local news team that specializes in this kind of issue, then alert the media!  Contact your local talk radio show host, submit a Letter to the Editor at your local newspaper's website, contact the health department, etc.  Make a huge fuss!  My bet is that it'll be resolved quickly.

  2. Judge Milian! from The People's Court.

  3. Contact your Government local Code Enforcement office.  You must have something in the city/state you live in that regulates rentals to make sure they are inhabitable.
