  1. I would say water pipes or heating pipes also.

  2. go and see your priest and have your house blessed!!!

  3. its a ghost

some poltergeists can manifest themselves in electrical circuits and cause house fires. Get your place saged or blessed.

  4. Subsidence?

  5.   sounds to me that you have a PRESENCE.

                          Vigilante

  6. Are there pipes running under the floor, e.g. water or gas?  If you are scared it could be serious.  Just because everything is working O:K does not mean it's not electrical.  Feel the floor in the area where you hear the noise.  Is it hot?  You will have to call a professional. If so, you will need to call the fire department immediately.  If not, you should call a handyman or other professional.  Hope everything is OK.

  7. It's ME, coming up from the cellar..

  8. maybe your house is settling.

  9. Sounds like either water pipes, heating pipes, or a few rats having a rave.

  10. If you have a plastic drainpipe running nearby this can expand alarmingly when hot water is run down it - if there is no room for expansion it will bind against the timberwork and make the floor 'groan'. Solution is to isolate any pipework by proper clips or a compressible material so that it can move without affecting the structure.

If not it could be the timbers are over stressed, but if you have not suddenly or recently added any extra load or cut away any supports, this would seem unlikley.
