There is no crisis at FC Porto, says http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Costa-c9458 – Portuguese Primeira Liga News
Porto president, Pinto da Costa, claims that there is no crisis at the club, as they are in a top position in the league. The Portistas currently lie 2nd in the standings and Da Costa reiterates that they are not facing any kind of catastrophe.
The Portuguese champions have not made the most convincing of starts to the defence of their crown. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitor-c36281 Pereira’s men have already succumbed to a defeat at the hands of Zenit St. Petersburg and their two draws against Feirense and Benfica have somewhat
diminished their threat.
FC Porto’s woeful run started with the uninspiring 0-0 draw at Feirense on the 18th of September. The Dragons played away from home and were unable to take their opportunities, instead settling for a share of the spoils.
Next was the hotly contested Portuguese classic against Benfica. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jorge-c19120 Jesus’ players travelled to Estadio do Dragao with momentum on their side and fought hard to come back into the game. Going 2-0 at half time, they were able to draw things level with
a superb fight back after the breather.
The result left http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991, where the home side
completely dominated proceedings and earned a deserving three points.
With their run of form, many have been critical of the Liga Sagres winners and lamented that the club was in crisis.
However Porto president, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nuno-Pinto-c28241 da Costa reiterates that this is not the case and that his club will again return to the top of Portuguese football despite their recent performances.
Speaking to reporters, the superemo said that although the Dragao were currently not in the best of form, they will make their comeback in the end.
"Some people announce the funeral ahead of time. We have had two draws and with that everyone went into convulsions, while we kept first place. So what I hope is that all the crises of FC Porto finish, as we stand in first place,” he said.
Da Costa also waived away claims that this campaign would more memorable as it was the 30th in charge of the Portuguese outfit, saying that for him the only thing that mattered was in the present not in the past.
"For me, 20 or 30 years is history, what counts is the present, which we should always try to make the best out of,” the Porto chairman was quoted as saying.
FC Porto will have a chance to redeem themselves when they take on Pero Pinheiro in the Portuguese cup after the International break.
