The bedroom is located on the corner of the house, it seems like the A/C doesn't even affect the room, it is always hot, in fact, nobody can even use a laptop or large desktop computer in the room because the computers operate so hot that they shut off after a little while. What is wrong here? There is something definitely screwy.

  1. Had a similar problem. Wife had put 3 touchier style lamps in the room, with regular incandescent light bulbs. I changed the bulbs to CFLs (compact fluorescent light bulb) and the problem went away. Surprising how much heat is generated by light bulbs. You also may want to check the duct work that supplies that room with cold air. Surprisingly most duct work is held together with, guess what, duct tape! What duct tape is made for! But the white trash (I am white BTW) solution for all problems in life has a glue backing that does not always hold up well in extreme heat.

  2. Is the room in question FACING the sun during the day light hours? Maybe the walls in that room have no insulation.

  3. How much sunlight comes in through your windows?  You might try covering them with heavy shades during the day.

It also sounds like the walls or ceiling may be lacking in insulation.

See the following pages on insulation...

    Hope this helps.

  4. Check the vent in that room first and is there any air coming through the ac vent? If not..or it is very slight then your duct for that room ahs either a large hole in it or has came lose..Your duct may be in the attic or it may be in "furr downs" throughout the house or they may be underneath the house depending on the design..most pier and beam houses have them underneath the house, or any house that is elevated off of the ground...If this room is the furthest one from the ac unit and was a new one put in prior to this..it may also  not be big enough for the house...
