http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gregory-Stephen-Chappell-c60820, the former Australian cricketer. The pacer believes that there must be something wrong with the Australian
as everyone in the Indian team had issues with him.
The former Aussie cricketer was appointed the head coach of the Indian team in 2005 by the Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI), and remained with the side for two long years. His tenure came to an end after the 2007 World
Cup final, which the Men in Blue lost to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
Passing his judgment on Chappell’s coaching, Nehra said, “I only played two-three series when Chappell was the coach of Indian team, but I can say I never had a great experience. Everyone had some issue with him so there must be
something wrong.”
The Australian’s term as the helm of Indian team was full of controversies. The 63-year-old was not very fond of senior players as he wanted to inject young blood into the team. This mentality of his did not sit well with Ganguly,
who was the then skipper of Men in Blue.
However, it was the left-hander who lost the battle and was removed from the national side, as Chappell believed that the cricketer had outlived his utility.
Nehra, during the same era was quite young, but Chappell favoured other bowlers ahead of him. The left-hander strived hard to win a place in the ODI team and became a regular member of Indian outfits afterwards.
Nehra is currently 32-years-old and the pacer once again finds himself benched. However, he has not lost hope of making a return to Indian colours and vows to work hard.
Nehra, who was dropped from the side on account of fitness issues, said, “I have not played international cricket since last seven months or so. I have only played a few practice games but I am working hard on my game and the rest
depends upon the selectors. I have given proof of my fitness and now it is the selectors who have to take a call.”
