Since the inception of T20 Internationals in 2005, the game’s shortest format has become increasingly popular all around the globe. Apart from bilateral series between different countries, four World T20s have been organised by the game’s governing body till date.

Richards, who is considered to be one of the greatest players of the history of the game, expressed that T20 is good entertainment but Test cricket remains the pinnacle of the game.
“You can still have Twenty20 cricket, which can be a great asset in terms of what you miss with bums on seats as far as Test cricket is concerned,” said the former West Indies captain.
The former cricketer from Antigua represented West Indies in 121 Tests and 187 One Day Internationals between 1974 and 1991, having scored more than 15 thousand runs at the highest stage of the game, with the help of 35 hundreds and 90 half-centuries. The legendary batsman played a huge role in the Caribbean men’s success in two consecutive world cups in 1975 and 1979.
In the last couple of years, many players from different countries have preferred to play franchise T20 cricket over playing international sport. The 60-year-old former player believes that the ICC must play a role to save the game.
“I just want balance, and if you have balance you will have a much better ratio of individuals wanting to represent their countries,” he added.
