There used to be an Asian eatery near me that served "Bao". Does anyone have any recipes?

These "bao" were special rolls that they served and would either have a hot dog, ham and cheese or even bbq pork stuffed inside of it. Also, they had sweet bao that had a coconut paste inside of it. If anyone cares, the eatery was in a suburb of Buffalo near SUNY Buffalo. It closed down (the prices were SO cheap). If anyone has any recipes I would GREATLY appreciate it!!

There are 150 chinese bun recipes on this page! Enjoy!

  2. In San Francisco, those types of breads are found in Asian bakeries.

Chinese sweet buns are good but for the hot dog or ham & cheese bread, you would use the basic dough.

To make hot dogs rolled in dough without going through the trouble of making our own bread, we have used the refrigerated biscuit dough found at the supermarket.

  3. Theres a place (im not sure if you have it) but it's called ranch 99. My mom buys it for me all the time! I agree, its really good. But check that place out.

  4. Char Siu Bao - the roast pork, red meat, bbq meat - is the most popular.  Steamed or baked, they are yummy.

In Hawaii they are called manapua - here are links to the recipe ...

You can also order them online, or find your local asian markets as they generally carry them in the frozen sections.
