I read about this battle about three years ago. I can't remember the names or the details. I only remember that it was a generally small force of 5000 that defeated 100000 because the smaller force made an agreement with part of the larger army to sneak attack apart of its own soldiers for a large sum of money. does anyone know the name of this battle or any of the details.

  1. there was an event in ww2 that i once read about where a scout unit of 3 soldiers encountered an entire german panzer division and got them to surrender by bluffing that they had loads of tanks and paratropers behind them

  2. The Battle of Cajamarca satisfies some of your requirements.

On November 16, 1532, the Spanish explorer and conquistador, Francisco Pizarro encountered the Incan emperor, Atahuallpa. Pizarro led a force of 62 calvary and 106 foot soldiers. Atahuallpa led an army of approximately 80,000. The battle lasted only a few minutes. Pizarro's force suffered no casualties. Atahuallpa lost upwards of 7,000. Atahuallpa was surrounded by his chiefs and counselors, and they were all killed, and Atahuallpa was taken captive by Pizarro.

Atahuallpa offered his famous ransom - enough gold to fill a room 22 feet by 17 feet to a height of 8 feet. When the gold was delivered, Pizarro broke his promise and executed Atahuallpa.
