Question:

There was a question asked a while back?

it was from a veteran, asking why some of the drivers are not respectful during the national anthem, I never answered it, because I don't know which drivers they were talking about, and none of the answerers gave names.

I asked a few weeks ago if anyone knew which drivers were the disrespectful ones, but some troll reported the question, it turns out it was "soliciting" *rolls eyes*

I'll try again, does anyone know who they were talking about?

  1. I'm not so sure that the networks don't do a little creative editing with the shots on pit road. Like maybe some of what you see may have happened, but just a little bit earlier.

I find it hard to believe that Jeff Gordon doesn't realize that the cameras will be looking at him during the anthem .

  2. Women ARE NOT required to remove their hats during the National Anthem.  So anyone who bashes Delana is wrong, as someone right above me mentioned.

Yes, sometimes I see someone chatting to the person next to them and some don't even put their hand over their heart - in fact, I see this quite a bit.  Maybe for some reason this is no longer "required".

I can't name specifics, but I do think that it happens quite a bit (the chatting I mean)

If that is what people are talking about... I don't know if I really find fault in it - especially if it is to their signifigant other.  It's really the only quiet, calm time they have for so many hours and right before what let's face it - could God Forbid be the last time they see them alive.  You may not want to let that enter your mind, but how do you not?  Everytime I see Teresa kissing Dale at Daytona that day I lose it!

And really...how good of a view of the whole ceremony do they really have anyway?  I don't know - that's why I am asking.  No, they shouldn't be laughing with a group of people.  But maybe they are sharing a little chuckle about how bad the singer is - I know I have done this!  LOL!!  I am in the stands, no camera on me.  But I have still done it and they are still people!

But this is just my opinion, I don't know what the specific person you were asking about meant.

  3. For the most part the ones I have seen are usually respectful. Alot has been said about Delana Harvick not removing her hat when she is wearing the drivers suit and all. The thing with Gordons wife fixing his hair was talked about also.

Dang it jaynarie, I swear we must be on the same page sometimes! LOL!! :))

  4. I remember Jimmie getting a lot of slack on here last year at the last race. His interviews before the race ran long (championship stuff), and when the National Anthem started, he was running from where they did interviews, through the crowd of drivers to get to where he needed to be. After he got there, he did stand and act the way he ought to, but some people thought it was disrespectful.

The biggest thing that stands out for me was when Ingrid did Jeff's hair. There was a time once that Mark Martin was yammering away to the guy next to him. But, I have no idea if that happens on a weekly basis.

  5. I know some people were upset a few weeks ago when Ingrid fixed Jeff's hair.  I'm not sure if that is the incident you are referring to or not.

And, of course, DeLana gets a lot of flack for not removing her hat.  But, I haven't heard anyone complaining of that in a while.

  6. i have only ever seen a driver leaned over talking to his wife or girlfriend during the anthem - and they usually stop once they realize the camera is on them.

other than that, i've seen nothing egregious.

  7. I was really impressed by the fellow on the right that sang the National Anthem at the Dover Cup race while wearing a tee-shirt with the Japanese battle flag on it.

  8. Since the Invocation and the National Anthem is my favorite part of the pre race show I watch it all the time.  Delana Harvick really shouldn't have to remove her hat...she's a girl.  It's the men that ettiquittely speaking are supposed to and they do.  I never saw anyone being disrespectful but ONCE.  That was Casey Mears and two girls laughing and giggling during the anthem.  I do believe the owners tell their drivers to be respectful during that time. Most of them  do without having to be told.

  9. everyone that answered before said what I would of so I guess there's not much more to be said lol!!
