There was an island that the some country took over for military use, what was it called?

I think it was either the British or the Americans who deported all the original inhabitants of an island,and then built military bases on it.

Now the island is only for use by military personnel. I think the American military rents it from the British, but I'm not sure.

The original inhabitants were forced off the island, Queen Elizabeth 2nd played some part in this by signing some law, and now the originals are trying to reclaim the island. I don't know where this island is, but it's some tropical paradise, and that's why whoever has it, wants to keep it.

All I can recall from this issue are sketchy details.
